Living Temples
Mighty cathedrals, tall towers, and huge halls can never replace God's choice of living temples. Living temples are the definite choice of God's abode in human realm as revealed by St. Paul in today's verse. Constant renovation and restoration are required of every believer every day. David, the great king and psalmist who dreamed and desired a house of God was even denied: "But God said to me, ‘You may not build a house for my name, for you are a man of war and have shed blood.’" (1 Ch 28:3) Living in an age of mercy, after being purchased by the precious blood of Christ, every believer has a right and duty to remain a living temple. "For you know what was paid to set you free from the worthless manner of life handed down by your ancestors. It was not something that can be destroyed, such as silver or gold; it was the costly sacrifice of Christ, who was like a lamb without defect or flaw." (1 Pet 1:18) What a privilege that we remain as choice and temple of the Holy God who is true and living. "But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light." (1 Pet 2:9) Let's believe, declare, rejoice and remain God's living temples.
Abba, I bow down before you for choosing and enabling me a holy temple. Let your Spirit remain with me forever. Amen.
