Royal Sonship
The original privilege of Adam was divine sonship as God Himself breathed unto him His own Spirit. "And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul" (Gen 2:7). Taking the advice of the adversary brought enmity in the unique bond that was a privilege and a right. Son was sent to reclaim and redeem the sonship that was temporarily lost for centuries. He preached unto the last the loving kindness and generous forgiveness of Heavenly Father. "But the father said to his servants, 'Bring forth quickly the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet: and bring the fatted calf, and kill it, and let us eat, and make merry: for this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found.' And they began to be merry."(Lk 15:22-24) Let's enjoy and be proud that our inheritance as coheirs together with Christ who shared His Father with us, who taught with authority to cry out in prayer Abba, "Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name" (Mt 6:9). Peter also convincingly records, "But you are a chosen race, a priesthood of kingly lineage, a holy nation, a people belonging specially to God, that you may make known the perfections of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvellous light" (1 Peter 2:9). Let's shout out in joy and sing and celebrate our royal sonship.
Abba, thank you for keeping us your children. Let your Spirit help us realize this mystery. Amen.
