The experience of the Old Testament people of God was that God was far away, "Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool. Where is the house you will build for me? Where will my resting place be?" (Is 66:1), and His voice was terrifying and unapproachable, "When the sound of the trumpet grew louder and louder, Moses spoke and God answered him with thunder" (Ex 19:19). Centuries later, the special messenger Archangel Gabriel revealed to mankind that God is approaching near, "Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel, which means 'God is with us.' " (Mt 1:23). Salvation was perfected with the shedding of the blood of the Lamb, and mankind regained the privilege that was lost. An unimaginable position was given that humans themselves can remain holy tabernacles, "Don't you know that you are God's temple and that God's Spirit lives in you?" (1 Cor 3:16). Let's enjoy and remain the residence of the Holy Ghost.
