Kingdom Rule
Big car, big screen, big home, and big balance are all cravings of this era, where everyone wants to exalt themselves above others. The Only One, who came down from heaven to teach the Kingdom rule, warns, “But those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted” (Mat 23:12). Rules of earthly kingdoms stand in contrast to that of the Heavenly Kingdom. To receive a welcome from heaven, our attitudes must change to adopt to the values of that kingdom: “So anyone who becomes as humble as this little child is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven” (Mat 18:4). In the parable of the Vineyard Workers, those who came first thought that they would be called first and given the best, but in reality, the order was reversed, as the Kingdom rules are different: “That evening he told the foreman to call the workers in and pay them, beginning with the last workers first” (Mat 20:8). Heaven observes our attitudes, hence, Paul also advises to esteem others and humble oneself, “For I say to every man that is among you, through the grace given unto me, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think” (Rom 12:3). Let’s learn humility and practice it everyday.
Abba, thank you for the knowledge of Kingdom rule. Let your Spirit help us to be humble, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
