Renovation Required
King David uttered the prayer when he realised his own transgressions, and wept over and cried for mercy in all humility, “Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me” (Ps 51:10). When he received forgiveness and healing, he desired that the entire mankind should experience the renewal and relief; hence, wrote and prayed, “You send forth Your Spirit, they are created; And You renew the face of the ground” (Ps 104:30). On our own or by our efforts, it is almost impossible to renovate our lives. So, all that we need to do is, to hold on to His promises, as revealed to His prophet Ezekiel, and express a prayer and enjoy the required renovation for the body, mind and spirit: “Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh” (Ezekiel 36:26). We can be confirmed when we realise that we desire a renewal, itself a step toward healing, for God has initiated the holy process in us.
Abba, thank you for giving us a desire for renewal of our lives. Let your Spirit renew the face of our lives and that of the earth, in Jesus’ Mighty Name, Amen.
