Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!” Is 6:8

The concern of God always was, and is, choosing someone for His purpose; hence, when He called Isaiah, He too generously responded, “Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?’ And I said, ‘Here am I. Send me!’” (Is 6:8). Four hundred years of slavery needed a break, so He extended and invited another man who felt unworthy, “‘Therefore, come now, and I will send you to Pharaoh, so that you may bring My people, the sons of Israel, out of Egypt.’ But Moses said to God, ‘Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring the sons of Israel out of Egypt?’ And He said, “Certainly I will be with you, and this shall be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you: when you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall worship God at this mountain.’” (Ex 3:10-12). After many centuries when His Son was here on earth, He, too, appointed an ordinary fisherman, who fearfully accepted His invitation, “and so also were James and John, sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, ‘Do not fear, from now on you will be catching men.’” (Lk 5:10). Let’s take courage and fulfil our vocation, whatever they may be, be it a parent,  spouse, priest or politician, for He gives us strength.
