Appreciate the Labor
Comfort is the desire of everyone, but God’s way of arrangement for man’s wellbeing, after the fall of Adam, is effective labor. God does not give credit to anyone for his status, as the world might categorise and arrange - some are considered high and dignified jobs and others are looked down upon. Appreciation is extended to the one who hesitated but was willing to perform the required task: “‘What do you think? There was a man who had two sons. He went to the first and said, “Son, go and work today in the vineyard.” “I will not,” he answered, but later he changed his mind and went” (Mt 21:28-29). Moses and David were tending sheep, but God choose them for leading nations; most of the apostles were ordinary working class but they were commissioned for a high mission, “And going on from there he saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets, and he called them” (Mt 4:21). The pioneer evangelist did not want to depend upon anyone for his food and need, “Paul lived and worked with them, for they were tentmakers just as he was” (Acts 18:3). The ones who were always ready to put in labor were always regarded and appreciated in Jesus’ teachings, “The master was full of praise. ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant. You have been faithful in handling this small amount, so now I will give you many more responsibilities. Let's celebrate together!’” (Mt 25:21). Let’s pray that God might give wisdom to respect the labor and give us courage to proceed with the task assigned.
Abba, thank you that you are going to bless me with health and confidence towards the labor that is set before me. Let your Spirit strengthen me to achieve success, in Jesus’ Mighty Name, Amen.
