Humility Is the Way
The best of rewards and promises of God, are easily available to those who maintain the attitude of humility, as highlighted in the Sermon on the Mount, “Happy are those who are humble; they will receive what God has promised!” (Mt 5:5). Mary, the humble vessel chosen by God, to be the living tabernacle of the Savior, convincingly shares the same lesson in her hymn of joy: “My heart praises the Lord; my soul is glad because of God my Savior, for he has remembered me, his lowly servant! From now on all people will call me happy” (Lk 1:46-48). Spiritual lessons, sometimes, serve as warning or guidance to the paths of blessedness, hence this teaching of Christ is very important, for He Himself lived it out when He was on the salvific mission on earth: “For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted” (Mt 23:12). Let’s whole-heartedly accept the situations that develops humility in our lives.
Abba, thank You for reminding us of the necessity of humility. Let Your Spirit help us embrace it as a blessing to receive Your promises. In Jesus’ Most Mighty Name, Amen.
