Holy Day Observation
Modern civilisation cheats on and tampers with God’s commandments for its own selfish financial reasons, like declaring God’ holy days as holidays. The mystery the world and science want to deny is, that God created the entire universe in six days and rested on the seventh: “By the seventh day God finished what he had been doing and stopped working. He blessed the seventh day and set it apart as a special day, because by that day he had completed his creation and stopped working” (Gen 2:2-3). Sharing His divine image with human beings, He offered the special privilege of sabbatical rest, i.e., rest on the seventh day, as a condition for blessing: “Observe the Sabbath and keep it holy. You have six days in which to do your work, but the seventh day is a day of rest dedicated to me. On that day no one is to work—neither you, your children, your slaves, your animals, nor the foreigners who live in your country” (Ex 20:8-10). While calling Moses, He narrated the slavery of the Israelites, in the hands of Egyptians, who denied rest and holy day observation: “Then the Lord said, ‘I have seen how cruelly my people are being treated in Egypt; I have heard them cry out to be rescued from their slave drivers. I know all about their sufferings, and so I have come down to rescue them from the Egyptians and to bring them out of Egypt to a spacious land, one which is rich and fertile.’” (Ex 3:7-8). One of the most important commandments of God for His children was a day of rest in order to be united with the Creator. The culture of no rest or weekends (i.e., two days of rest) is unbiblical, hence should be avoided, to the holy observation of Sabbath.
Abba, thank You for giving rules for our well-being, for only You know what is good for us, as You are our Creator. Let Your Spirit enable us to understand and observe the holy day. In Jesus’ Most Mighty Name, Amen.
