Covenant of Peace
The greatest significance that’s been emphasized on the term “covenant” is rarely understood, for only the word “contract” is been in use in worldly agreements, that can be broken by either parties. God out of His ultimate love for His children, promises the covenant of peace, that is permanent, protecting, as revealed through Prophet Isaiah: “Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,” says the Lord, who has compassion on you. (Is 54:10) While sending His disciples as His delegates, the condition Christ gave regarding the resting of peace on the people who they visit, relies on their attitude in receiving it: “When you enter a house, first say, ‘Peace to this house.’ If someone who promotes peace is there, your peace will rest on them; if not, it will return to you.” (Lk 10:5-6) Considering grace and peace as the greatest gifts, Paul greets the faithful to enjoy them in abundance: “To God’s holy people in Colossae, the faithful brothers and sisters in Christ: Grace and peace to you from God our Father.” (Col 1:2) Let’s hold on to this covenant of peace, that is due of God’s children.
Abba, thank You for the greatest covenant of peace. Let Your Spirit fill our minds, lives, and homes with peace of Christ. In Jesus’ Most Peaceful Name, Amen.
