The True Blessedness
Modern world speaks about confidence in one’s own self and motivation, but Psalmist promulgates another essential feature of success and protection, “Those who are trusting in the LORD are like Mount Zion, which cannot be overthrown. They remain forever” (Ps 125:1). The comparison David has for the protection that the believer would receive when he trusts, is that of undisturbed Mount Zion, “Look upon Zion, the city of our appointed feasts; Your eyes will see Jerusalem, an undisturbed habitation, A tent which will not be folded; Its stakes will never be pulled up, Nor any of its cords be torn apart” (Is 33:20). Let’s not live by vain self-glory, but wait for His continued mercy that proceeds for generations to support, as Mary sang, “He has given help to Israel His servant, In remembrance of His mercy, As He spoke to our fathers, To Abraham and his descendants forever” (Lk 1:54-55). Let’s yearn to look for the true blessedness of trusting and living by Him.
Abba, thank You for your unfailing love, which protects us forever. Let Your Spirit enable us to trust You more and more, in Jesus’ Most Wonderful Name, Amen.
