The Highest Status
The God who created the entire universe has a special kind of love for human beings that He choses to call us children: “See how much the Father has loved us! His love is so great that we are called God's children—and so, in fact, we are” (1 Jn 3:1). His own Spirit, whom He shared with us, enables us to claim and address Him Father, as Paul reminds: “For the Spirit that God has given you does not make you slaves and cause you to be afraid; instead, the Spirit makes you God’s children, and by the Spirit’s power we cry out to God, ‘Father! my Father!’” (Rom 8:15). And that is why the primary duty of every child should be extending his or her needs in prayer, and give Him the honour that is His due, as the chief apostle instructs: “You call him Father, when you pray to God, who judges all people by the same standard, according to what each one has done; so then, spend the rest of your lives here on earth in reverence for him” (1 Pet 1:17). May we be proud of this highest and unique states we enjoy as His children.
Abba, thank You for giving us this special status to remain Your children. Let Your Spirit make us rejoice in this unique relationship. In Jesus’ Most Wonderful Name, Amen.
