“I assure you that unless you change and become like children, you will never enter the Kingdom of heaven.” Mt 18:3

Become Like Children

Everyone comes into the world and begin his or her life as a child, but as we grow we gradually loose God-given qualities that were inbuilt within us, that enable us to inherit God’s kingdom. Simply notice and observe children. It is astonishing the amount of things we need to learn from them: they are eager to learn new things, wonder and appreciate anything that is around them, and are satisfied with anything that is provided. They question with the intention of learning and understanding, are easy to trust and welcome, and ready to forget the hurt feelings and forgive with a big smile; they share with others what they have, and the list goes on. And that is why a warning is given to us by the Master Teacher, Jesus himself to become like children. “I assure you that unless you change and become like children, you will never enter the Kingdom of heaven” (Mt 18:3). May we humble ourselves to learn from children, that together with them we may enter into God’s kingdom.

Abba, thank You for setting before us children as the models of Heaven’s elect. Let Your Spirit give us humility to learn from them to enjoy God’s kingdom. In Jesus’ Most Wonderful Name, Amen.
