Gift of Peace
The God whom we believe in knows and understands all the sufferings we go through, hence would never leave us abandoned, but console us with the gift of peace. When the apostles could not feel the physical nearness of their Master Jesus, they were frightened and kept themselves behind the locked doors. But Jesus met them in an astonishing way, and strengthened them by His greatest gift of peace. “It was late that Sunday evening, and the disciples were gathered together behind locked doors, because they were afraid of the Jewish authorities. Then Jesus came and stood among them. ‘Peace be with you,’ he said.” (Jn 20:19) May we believe that the same Jesus, who is eternally alive, will fill our hearts with peace that we may endure the challenges we meet.
Abba, thank You for sending Your Son with the gift of peace. Let Your Spirit fill our hearts with His gift of fortitude, in Jesus’ Most Powerful Name, Amen.
