We all desire being helped when we are in need, but we need to remember there are many others who are in need of our help, too. That is why it is important that we prioritize the needs of others and extend the help that we can offer. Solomon, the wise man, rightly points out that we need to help our relatives, that might bring great protection in our times of need: “Help your relatives and they will protect you like a strong city wall, but if you quarrel with them, they will close their doors to you” (Prov 18:19). May God grant us sensitivity that we may attend to the needs of our relatives.

Abba, thank You for reminding us of the duty of helping our relatives. Let Your Spirit enable us and make us rejoice in helping others, in Jesus’ Most Wonderful Name, Amen.
