When the entire people of Israel were expecting the arrival of the Messiah, only a handful of shepherds were privileged with the first announcement of the birth of Jesus. They were fortunate to have the glimpse of the choir from above, and were blessed to listen to the rarest singing of the lyrics of Heaven: “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests” (Lk 2:14). May we yearn that we may be His favored ones so that we can enjoy the peace His Son brought as a gift for His children. Peace is a gift that God knew that the mankind was in need, and peace still is the need of the hour; hence may we plead with God to shower once again the gift of peace on the entire mankind. 

Abba, thank You so much for sending Your Son with the greatest gift of peace. Let Your Spirit enable us to receive it gratefully from Him, and maintain peace in our family and in the world. In Jesus’ Most Peace-filled Name we pray, Amen.
