Every denomination has its own unique way of administering the sacrament of baptism, and they feel proud about it. This ritual of external ceremony alone is not enough for the full-fledged Christian life. We need to be filled by the living Holy Spirit of God and that baptism is very essential; that’s why John announced to the crowd: “I baptize you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.” (Mark 1:8).  Only the Messiah can administer the baptism of the Holy Spirit, and so we need to plead with Him to receive such mighty outpouring. May God be merciful to us and give us this baptism that makes us true children of God.

Abba, thank you for inviting us to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Let Your Spirit enable us to live as your children. In the Most Powerful Name of Jesus, Amen.
