A Blessed Greeting
People when they meet each other, they greet and try to impress the other and also to make the person feel better. But here in the gospel, we read about the meeting between Mary and Elizabeth, where their greeting proceeded from the outpouring of the Holy Spirit: "And she exclaimed with a loud cry, 'Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb!'" (Lk 1:42). Only a Spirit-filled person can pronounce such a greeting that reveals the mystery and vocation of the other person. May we be united with God as we greet each other, that the words may proceed out of the holy anointing.
Abba, thank You for anointing us as we meet and greet each other. Let Your Spirit give us the right words to greet, In Jesus' Most Wonderful Name, Amen.
