And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. Mt 16:18

The Identity Declared

Most of us have a vague and unclear identity about ourselves - smart or stupid, strong or weak, brilliant or dull head, and so on. But none of them can be true, for we did not create ourselves. The One who has created alone knows our real identity because He made us with a definite purpose. Apostle Peter thought of himself as weak and sinful, and wanted Jesus to go away from him. But Jesus declared unto him the vocation and mission God had appointed for him: "And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it" (Mt 16:18). Peter had to humble himself and accept the vocation that was commissioned on him. And he definitely had to face the warfare, but he was never defeated because God had said so. May we also be strengthened by the words of God that assures our victory.

Abba, thank You so much for declaring our mission and identity. Let Your Spirit confirm us in faith and lead us, In Jesus’ Most Powerful Name, Amen.
