Harvesting Is Joyful
Agriculture is considered to be one of the most ancient and hardest fields of labor. In the time when there were no modern equipments, farmers had to put in hardest labor and endure pain: trusting God’s providence of favourable weather of sunlight, water and wind, they waited patiently for the time of reaping. When crops were ready to be harvested, their hearts were filled with joy because they saw the produce they just received, just as the Psalmist declares: “Those who sow in tears shall reap in joy” (Ps 126:5). In the spiritual life, too, sowing is the hardest job and any of God’s servants has to endure and struggle with patience, trusting in God’s showers of grace and power. And then, in due time we can surely celebrate when the souls in which we planted seeds, produce desired effects. May we be fully confident and passionately labor in the vineyard of the Lord.
Abba, thank You so much for inviting us to sow. Let Your Spirit give us hope in the coming harvest, that will bring the assured joy, in Jesus’ Most Wonderful Name, Amen.
