The basic need of every living human being is food, and hunger is the instinct that creates unrest and pain in us until we find and satisfy ourselves with sufficient food. In the same way, in spiritual life also we need to feel the hunger for God in order to encounter Him, to be with Him and to be filled with His Spirit. In this modern age, many grow spiritually sick and weary that they cannot feel the spiritual hunger and are manipulated to satisfy their souls with pleasurable activities like watching sports, being in entertainments and drinking, and so on. As we are created in His image, we should sincerely seek to be filled by God, which can only  happen when we desire Him with all our hearts, as revealed to Prophet  Jeremiah: "You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart" (Jer 29:13). May we yearn for being filled by God who alone can satisfy our spiritual hunger.

Abba, thank You for caring for our spiritual food. Let Your Spirit make us strive to be filled more by Your presence, in Jesus’ Most Loving Name, Amen.
