For centuries people were expecting the Messiah, but when He finally arrived in person, they were opposing or reluctant in accepting Him as the One sent from God. It is in this context Jesus inquired His apostles whether they had understood His identity. While they attempted to give answers, and these were not correct, Simon Peter came out with the right answer: “And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.” (Mt 16:16). Jesus immediately approved and appreciated Simon Peter for declaring His identity, but told him that this was given to him directly by His Father in Heaven. Rarely anyone receives such highest kind of revelation. Being confirmed about that, Peter was able to completely surrender to Jesus for His mission. Only such revelation and experience can make anyone declare to the world that Jesus is the Son of the living God. May we realize and experience the Messiah personally, and declare aloud to the world that they may receive salvation.

Abba, thank You for continuing to reveal to us. Let Your Spirit make us understand and obey the revelation, in Jesus’ Most Gracious Name, Amen.
