The path of spiritual life has any number of traps the enemy has set so that we may fall into temptation. Only a life of fervent prayer can give us warning about the possible fall and the strength to resist the attraction of the temptation by the enemy. Even the first parents could not withstand the seductive words of the evil one, and fell into temptation and committed the sin, to which God Himself has given a clear warning. Jesus was able to defeat and make the enemy run away, for His life was governed and guarded by prayer and the sword of the word of God. And that is why Jesus gave the apostles the clearest warning before He was going to be arrested: "And said unto them, Why sleep ye? rise and pray, lest ye enter into temptation" (Luke 22:46). May we keep the warning of our Master’s in mind and march towards the victorious life of Christians through the constant meditation of the word of God and prayer.

Abba, thank You so much for constantly giving us warning to stay in prayer. Let Your Spirit encourage us and lead us into a life of prayer, in Jesus’ Most Powerful Name, Amen.
