“Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham. For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” Lk 19:9-10

The New Identity

Apart from having our individual name, we have identities that people around us set about us, often highlighting our weaknesses, temperaments and habits.  And these are the things everyone wants to avoid hearing or being said about. But Jesus wants us to regain our lost identity by declaring it openly with authority, as He did to Zacchaeus; "Jesus said to him, 'Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham.  For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.'” (Lk 19:9-10). However negative the world may speak about us, we should believe in the word of the One, who sacrificed His life for the love He has for us, who gives us the right identity. May God give us hope that we live up to this new calling.

Abba, Thank You for giving us the new identity. Let Your Spirit encourage us to live up to the new vocation, In Jesus’ Most Powerful Name, Amen.
