The moment we master an art or skill, we become arrogant about the knowledge of it. But a sincere look at the mastery of anything would reveal that we are only amateurs, however smart we may seem to be. The first time when He called Peter, who was a fisherman by profession, Jesus surprised him by showing the exact location of a fish-bank (Lk 5:4-6). He did not give him that navigation in order for Peter to become an expert at catching fish, but He invited him to become a fisher of men. The second time, that is after the resurrection, when Jesus found the disciples in a similar situation, struggling to catch fish, again He showed them the exact location to cast their net. This time, He entrusted them with His Mission: "He said, 'Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.' When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish" (Jn 21:6). May we turn to God when we do not know how and what to do in a particular situation, for He alone knows everything perfectly.

Abba, Thank You so much that you are going to show us the way. Let Your Spirit reveal, and lead us into, the path we should tread, in Jesus’ Most Omniscient Name, Amen.
