Motives are Important
Goals are very important in the life of an individual, but they have to be inspired by higher motives; otherwise even if you were to achieve them, the life would still be empty and void. The highest goal should have room and space for the wellbeing of other human beings as well. Paul challenges us to break and go beyond anything that keeps us to be narrow and self-centered, for that is the true vocation of anyone who claims himself as a true Christian: “Do nothing out of selfishness or out of vainglory; rather, humbly regard others as more important than yourselves, each looking out not for his own interests, but everyone for those of others.” (Phil 2:3-4) May all the heights we arrive at, and gifts we possess or receive, lead us to have consideration for the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of others, whom God brings into our life and contact.
Abba, Thank You for inspiring us to extend our horizons and reach out to others. Let Your spirit guide us in achieving the motives that inspire us, In Jesus’ Most Generous Name, Amen.
