Examine the Integrity
The convictions, beliefs, attitudes, and dispositions that we hold internally determine their expressions in our outward actions. Most often they reveal to us and to thers who we truly are, despite our unwillingness to learn from them or challenge them, so that we may become better by taking necessary actions. Contradictions in life cannot be justified or covered up by mere arguments or by the authority that we hold as an individual or institution; they need to be corrected. The words of Jesus confirm the truth regarding the inner nature of the person: “For there is no good tree which produces bad fruit, nor, on the other hand, a bad tree which produces good fruit. For each tree is known by its own fruit. For men do not gather figs from thorns, nor do they pick grapes from a briar bush.” (Lk 6:43-44). Apostle James reinforces the same thought and invites us to show wisdom and understanding in actions that proceed from us as the expressions of these in word and deed: “Who among you is wise and understanding? Let him show by his noble conduct that his actions are done humbly and wisely.” (Jam 3:13) May we sincerely take a genuine inventory of our words and deeds, and make a thorough examination that will help us bring the necessary changes that are essential for the integrity of us and the wellbeing of those around us.
Abba, Thank You for inviting us to be concerned about out life and actions. Let Your spirit make us realize our own weaknesses and failures, so that we become truly what we should be as followers of Your Son, In Jesus’ Most Genuine Name, Amen.
