The Great Joy
There are levels of happiness, from ordinary pleasure to the highest level of bliss, and the temporary carnal gratification that are forbidden satisfies the physical needs, but most often leaves us with guilt and robs us of the true joy that comes by the union with our Creator. Only a person who has experienced can know the pain of being away from the joy that comes with the spiritual communion. When his personal sin broke the relationship with God, David immediately realized what he truly has lost, and that made him sincerely sorrowful and repent for his failure. He admitted his failure and pleaded with God for mercy and restoration, that flew exceedingly and wiped away his tears and cleansed the guilt: “Give me again the joy that comes from your salvation, and make me willing to obey you.” (Ps 51:12) Having enjoyed the loving kindness in abundance, the Psalmist declares it often that we may also approach God for pardon and peace, that restores us back to the original happiness of true joy: “But the lovingkindness of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear Him, And His righteousness to children's children.” (Ps 103:17) May we always keep in mind the loving kindness of God that awaits to forgive and restore us back to the lost joy.
Abba, Thank You for showering upon us Your exceeding mercy and kindness. Let Your Spirit always bring us back to You in our moments of failure to restore the true joy, In Jesus’ Most Forgiving Name, Amen.
