Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; yea, wait for the Lord! Ps 27:14

Waiting on Him

To get astonished and witness the glory of sunrise or the majestic beauty of sunset, we need to wait for a day. To have communion and fellowship with the saints of God on sabbath, seven days of waiting is required. A father awaits along with the mother for the child to arrive for forty weeks or so. To celebrate the joy of the birthday of our dear ones, again, we wait for a year to arrive. Waiting is the norm or compulsion that is kept for realizing the greatness of the moment of time and event. In spiritual life, too, waiting has a significant role to play. It may make a person grow tired or get disappointed, but can also make the very person be amazed at the experience of getting a vision or revelation from the magnificent hands of God, who purposefully grants our desires in His appointed time. David, the shepherd and the king, strongly suggests that we need to hold onto faith and enthusiastically await the fulfillment of His everlasting promises: “Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; yea, wait for the Lord!” (Ps 27:14). Noah, Abraham, Jacob, Joseph, Moses and all His prophets had a share of waiting before His promises came to reality. It is not an empty sermon that David preaches to convince us, but encourages us by telling from the firsthand experience of waiting; “I waited patiently for the LORD; And He inclined to me and heard my cry.” (Ps 40:1) May we be motivated by this sincerest claim of the psalmist and await joyfully and strong, for our God never deserts us or abandons those who wait on Him.

Abba, Thank You for the moment of waiting. Let Your Spirit make our spirit grow strong in faith, In Jesus’ Most Powerful Name, Amen.
