Those who sow in tears shall reap with joyful shouting. Ps 126:5-6

Reward of Heaven

Big jobs, big salaries, big cars, big apartments, big influence—these are some of the normal desires people tend to have and fall prey to the temptation of neglecting the smallest duties that would definitely supply them with great multitude beyond their imagination and comprehension. Divine message that would provide unimaginable wealth, that only humble farmers can understand, is reinstated by David the Psalmist: “Those who sow in tears shall reap with joyful shouting. He who goes to and fro weeping, carrying his bag of seed, Shall indeed come again with a shout of joy, bringing his sheaves with him.” (Ps 126:5-6) The Master Teacher Jesus, too, told His parable of sowing seed and the hundredfold harvest; yet, warned them of burying the small talent given them by the Master, who returned and found the record of everyone’s investments—big and small—, rewarded the rule over cities: “‘Well done!’ the king exclaimed. ‘You are a good servant. You have been faithful with the little I entrusted to you, so you will be governor of ten cities as your reward.’” (Lk 19:17) May we never grumble or disregard the small thing that He has entrusted with us, but continue doing and wait, expecting unimaginably greatest reward from the King of Heaven.

Abba, Thank You for entrusting us with a duty of sowing small seeds of the Word of God on Your behalf. Let Your Spirit encourage us to go ahead with the smallest task with the greatest hope of the reward from Heaven, for the King of Heaven would surprise the entire world by the faithful, unworthy servant, who kept on sowing in simple faith. In Jesus’ Most Powerful Name, Amen.
