Is there anyplace I can go to avoid your Spirit? Ps 139:7

Sight of God

Is there anyplace I can go to avoid your Spirit?

to be out of your sight?

If I climb to the sky, you’re there!

If I go underground, you’re there!

If I flew on morning’s wings

    to the far western horizon,

You’d find me in a minute—

    you’re already there waiting!

Then I said to myself, “Oh, he even sees me in the dark!

At night I’m immersed in the light!”

It’s a fact: darkness isn’t dark to you;

night and day, darkness and light, they’re all the same to you. (Ps 139:7-12)

Sight of God

One thing that controlled and directed the path of men of previous centuries was the idea that God is watching over us. The enemy has not only diluted the moral sense that limited and restrained the uncontrollable passion for evil, that chases people until they succumb to the seduction of the deadly defeated enemy, who still wages his final war on  ignorant children of God, who are both believers and unbelievers. The range of the sight of God, if we can meditate upon, make us shiver and tremble, for He can view anything and everything, be it happens in day or night, east or west, on sky or underground. David, the shepherd knew this first-hand, right from his vocation, anointing, and an attempt to cover up his personal sin, His prophets came as scanners and revealed everything, for they have no intention, except to give warning and ask them to change the course of voyage. Good and bad, nothing can escape the viewing of God, His Son and the Spirit. When Jesus revealed the location and the activity of Nathaniel, he got startled: Nathaniel said to him: “From where do you know me?” Yeshua said to him: “Before Phillipus called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.” (Jn 1:48) The tired fishermen who toiled the whole night and returned empty without catching a single fish, when they obeyed and dropped the net, hauled an unimaginable catch of plenty of fish, couldn’t comprehend, how this son of carpenter could find the exact location of the fish bank and immediately Peter sensed that He can scan his secret life too and said leave me, I’m only a sinner: 5-7 Simon said, “Master, we’ve been fishing hard all night and haven’t caught even a minnow. But if you say so, I’ll let out the nets.” It was no sooner said than done—a huge haul of fish, straining the nets past capacity. They waved to their partners in the other boat to come help them. They filled both boats, nearly swamping them with the catch.

8-10 Simon Peter, when he saw it, fell to his knees before Jesus. “Master, leave. I’m a sinner and can’t handle this holiness. Leave me to myself.” When they pulled in that catch of fish, awe overwhelmed Simon and everyone with him. It was the same with James and John, Zebedee’s sons, coworkers with Simon. Lk 5:5-10  The Samaritan woman who extended the conversation by beating around the bush by her theological expertise, was finally challenged by the revelation of her entire past and current life, knew it was He who the Israel was awaiting, and declared and proclaimed as the first evangelist as some feminist theologians say: 39-42 Many of the Samaritans from that village committed themselves to him because of the woman’s witness: “He knew all about the things I did. He knows me inside and out!” They asked him to stay on, so Jesus stayed two days. A lot more people entrusted their lives to him when they heard what he had to say. They said to the woman, “We’re no longer taking this on your say-so. We’ve heard it for ourselves and know it for sure. He’s the Savior of the world!” Jn 4:39-42 The book of Acts also has another event, where both the husband and wife thought, no-one is going to catch if they hide the truth about the money they hid and told a lie, but underestimated the revelation that was provided by His Spirit to His anointed, and continued cheating and both went for burial: 7 About three hours later his wife came in, not knowing what had happened. 8 Peter asked her, “Tell me, is this the price you and Ananias got for the land?”

“Yes,” she said, “that is the price.”

9 Peter said to her, “How could you conspire to test the Spirit of the Lord? Listen! The feet of the men who buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out also.”

10 At that moment she fell down at his feet and died. Then the young men came in and, finding her dead, carried her out and buried her beside her husband. 11 Great fear seized the whole church and all who heard about these events. Acts 5:7-10 May we convert our lives, by not being over-smart, and still convincing everyone, because they cannot prove. Remember one thing: what you could never attempt is shutting down the view of God, for you can successfully cheat your friends, believers, government, but not Him. If rebellion would still be the option that you choose, let me not pronounce any judgement, for He has said: Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. Rom 12:19 Let God give us heart to sense our voluntary co-operation with sins of selfishness and luxury, and move us swiftly to embrace His awaiting mercy.

Abba, Thank You for watching over us guiding, guarding and protecting. Let Your Spirit convince us of the truth of Your everlasting watching,. In Jesus’ all knowing Name, Amen.
