Ps 18:46-50 

46-48 

Live, God! Blessings from my Rock,

    my free and freeing God, towering!

Live, God is live. He is alive, eternal. And only because of His eternal aliveness, He is able to produce life, that continues to produce life. David found shelter in this loving God, all his life. Even when he was a shepherd or he was made a king: he always depended on the live God. Blessings from my rock. Rock is something very strong, a kind unbreakable. I wonder whether the areas David wondered around were full of rocks, and strong ones, that protected him and his sheepfold from disasters. That’s why he enjoys calling God rock. 

my free and freeing God,

God is the one who sets everyone free. Anything entangles you, be it a bad habit or death or a health issue, approach this God. He does it for free, because He is a freeing God, and His name should be towering!

This God set things right for me

It is not about our matter of intelligence; it’s about God setting things right for me. We always make things a mess, but God, like a good mother, sets things right for us, 

    and shut up the people who talked back.

There are any number of people who are shouting against us. Gossip mongers, God will shut those people.

He rescued me from enemy anger,

You don’t even know why you have enemies; you don’t hate anybody, you don’t have to; you raise your voice when injustice is done against you or your people. Otherwise you won’t get angry. So, enemies, out of jealousy or some other reason, if they are angry, it is the Lord who rescues us form the enemies

    he pulled me from the grip of upstarts,

Nobody can keep us low for long; God will pull us from the grip of these upstarts

He saved me from the bullies.

Salvation belongs to Him, only He can save.

49-50 

That’s why I’m thanking you, God,

Even otherwise we should be thanking God

    all over the world.

Wherever God leads me, He will take you countries after countries; then, your duty is to thank God.

That’s why I’m singing songs

God enjoys singing. He has given you a good voice; try and sing.

    that rhyme your name.

Sing good songs, that exalts the Name of God

God’s king takes the trophy;

The match is already won; we are the victors. So, even if it is a war, we will be awarded the trophy.

    God’s chosen is beloved.

Just be a chosen , definitely we are be beloved. 

I mean David and all his children—

    always.

We are all His children, yeah, we are His beloved, too, always and forever.

 

Abba, Thank You for being our rock. Let Your Spirit convince us to stay surrounded by this Rock, You, so that nothing harms us, that we will stay safe in this shelter. In Jesus’ Most Powerful Name, Amen.
