Become like wool
“Come now, let us reason together,”
says Adonai.
“Though your sins be like scarlet,
they will be as white as snow.
Though they be red like crimson,
they will become like wool.
Isaiah 1:18
Become like wool
God doesn’t want us to remain in sin and guilt. He wants to redeem us from the shame and pain of failing and falling into the same weakness again and again. That’s why He is inviting, “Come now, let us reason together.”—He is inviting you to sit with Him, inquire with Him, find out ways to overcome or to accept, or to solve. Our God wants us to be healed.
“Though your sins be like scarlet,—the color that is easily visible, the color that sometimes threatens us, makes us aware of our fallen self, that which we ourselves are ashamed to accept or to share to anybody, even to the closest ones we will not be able to.
But He says, “they will be as white as snow.” Yes, He can make that for us. John in his first letter 1:7 says, “The Blood of Christ shall wipe away, cleanse us from all our sins.”
Then He goes again and says, “Though they be red like crimson,”—the strongest red not that easily wipeable, but He says, “they will become like wool.”—pure, clean, immaculate. Only our God can do this for us. Let’s ask Him to do that.
David when he sinned against God and against his own solder, he wept before the Lord, “Cleanse me with a hissop, that I may be clean as white.” Let that attitude be ours.
Whenever we fail, our God is compassionate. Not 7 times, 70 times 7. That is Jesus’ way of extending forgiveness to each and every one of us. Together let’s go unto Him that He may make us white as snow, or make us become like wool.
Abba, Father, we are full of sin. Our sins are like scarlet, our sins are like crimson, so visible. We are ashamed, we are not able to overcome, but we believe Your Son’s Precious Blood can cleanse and make us white as wool or snow. Let Your Spirit give us this conviction, in Jesus’ Most Powerful Name, Amen.
